MC Fats (nombre real Wildale Spencer), una voz central en las escenas de la jungla y el drum n’ bass, ha muerto.
La noticia se compartió en las redes sociales hoy (10 de marzo), y muchos expresaron su amor y apoyo por el MC pionero.
Andy C de RAM Records, tuiteó: “Estamos desconsolados al enterarnos del fallecimiento de MC Fats. Fue una leyenda de DNB y un querido miembro de nuestra familia desde el principio”.
No se ha anunciado la causa de la muerte, pero se informó anteriormente que Fats padecía problemas de salud. En 2013, ingresó en el hospital debido a su diabetes y se sometió a una serie de procedimientos quirúrgicos, incluida la amputación parcial de una pierna.
En 2018, fue ingresado nuevamente en el hospital mientras estaba en Cerdeña, donde se sometió a una cirugía cardíaca importante. En ese momento, se estableció una recaudación de fondos comunitaria dentro de la escena del drum n’ bass para cubrir los gastos incurridos durante su tratamiento. Esto recaudó más de £ 10,000 para los costos.

Conocido por su trabajo inicial en las escenas, Fats era muy respetado y reconocido por su distintiva voz. Apareció en varias pistas importantes, incluido el himno de DJ Hype de 1996, ‘Peace Love & Unity’ en Playaz Recordings.
También trabajó con Chase & Status , Calibre, Dillinja y Pendulum , y continuó lanzando música hasta 2022. En noviembre, lanzó ‘Natural Way’ con Break.
Doc Scott también rindió homenaje en Twitter, escribiendo: «Descansa MC Fats, gracias por todas las risas y buenos momentos en el camino, es un día triste para DNB, nos vemos en el otro lado, amigo mío».
