La 16ª edición del evento anual llega tras la reciente noticia de que en 2022 el vinilo superó en ventas al formato CD por primera vez en 35 años .

The 1975 fueron anunciados recientemente como embajadores de RSD 2023 , y también lanzarán una presentación en vivo con la Orquesta Filarmónica de la BBC en vinilo por primera vez.

El año pasado, se informó que ‘Midnights’ de Swift fue el primer álbum en venderse mejor en vinilo que en CD desde la década de 1980 . Tras su lanzamiento, ‘Midnights’ se publicó en cinco ediciones de CD y vinilo codificadas por colores .
Estados Unidos también vio su mayor semana de vinilos desde 1991 a fines del año pasado , vendiendo 2,2 millones de álbumes de vinilo en la semana que finalizó el 22 de diciembre.
Figuras de la industria de la música también hablaron con NME sobre los factores que están causando retrasos en la fabricación de vinilos y los artistas que hacen sus álbumes.
